Mellow Moon Lodge
The property
An upscale but down-to-earth, boutique property, we cater to the outdoor enthusiast. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or two months into the Divide; we strive to be your home away from home. Dogs are always welcome, we have an onsite bike shop, there’s a fire-pit for beers in the evening and good coffee in the morning. On top of all of that, we are a proud eco-chic outpost free from single-use plastic, harsh chemicals, or bad vibes.
Bring your toys and come adventure with us.

Good to know
We love dogs! We have dogs! All that being said, there’s a few things to keep in mind if you decide to bring your furry family member on vacation with you. First off, we charge $25 per dog for up to four days and only allow two dogs per room. And if you think you’re super stealthy and can sneak them in… yeah.. we’ll know, we’ll charge you anyway AND give you dirty looks because that’s just not cool. Additionally, we highly recommend taking a look at our policy page for specifics on our pet policy because you can never be too educated, and please note, we love cats too but unfortunately are not able to accommodate them due to allergy concerns.
If you are traveling with a dog, please let us know ahead of time so that we can make note on your reservation. It’s simple, just shoot us a quick email below
The story
Owner and designer, Jess, dedicated a year to appropriately restore and redesign the 1940s El Rancho Motel into the current minimal but luxurious rooms of the Mellow Moon. We currently have ten newly-renovated, 100% smoke-free, dog-friendly rooms with keyless entry. Featuring Tuft & Needle beds, Organic Coyuchi linens, repurposed vanities, custom furniture, vintage artwork, Smart TVs, and all-natural bath products. We've worked hard to create a comfortable oasis in the San Luis Valley.
